Yoga Fundamentals: Alignment Principles for a Safe Practice

This workshop is designed to assist people starting out in their yoga practice who are wanting to learn or clarify basic alignment principles.

The safety and positioning of three key areas of the body will be examined in relation to yoga postures: the shoulders, the lower back and the knees.

When yoga postures (asanas) are practiced with awareness and knowledge of healthy alignment, comfort and greater freedom in the body will result. Proper alignment is essential to avoid the risks of injury and to establish a solid foundation on which a practice can grow.

Through demonstration, discussion and experiential movement, participants will deepen their understanding of basic alignment principles to promote safety and ease in all yoga postures.

Handouts will be provided.

Enrollment is limited, please register early to secure a space. Workshop fee must be received within 5 days of your registration to reserve your space. Workshop fees are refundable only if your space can be filled. (A $10 administration fee is applied to refunds.)
